A professional-looking Twitch channel requires sharp, correctly-sized graphics for every element — from the profile photo that appears in search results to the panels that fill your channel page. Using the wrong dimensions creates blurry thumbnails, cut-off text, and an unprofessional appearance.
Twitch Profile Photo
- Recommended size: 256×256 px minimum. Twitch displays profile photos as small circles in many places — use a simple, high-contrast design that reads clearly at small sizes
- Maximum file size: 10 MB
- Accepted formats: JPEG, PNG, GIF (animated GIF for profile is only available to Twitch Affiliates and Partners)
- Aspect ratio: Square (1:1). Twitch crops non-square images to circle
Twitch Channel Banner (Header)
The banner appears at the top of your Twitch channel page. Unlike YouTube, it does not show on TV apps or mobile in the same way.
- Recommended size: 1920×480 px. Twitch displays the banner across the full width of the channel page at 1920 px wide and approximately 480 px tall on a 1080p monitor
- Safe zone: Keep important content in the center 1400×480 px area — edges may be cropped on narrower displays
- Maximum file size: 10 MB
- Accepted formats: JPEG, PNG
Twitch Offline Screen (Video Placeholder)
The offline screen appears in place of the video player when you are not live. It is the first thing viewers see when they visit your channel while you are offline.
- Recommended size: 1920×1080 px (16:9 Full HD). This matches the standard 16:9 video player aspect ratio
- Maximum file size: 10 MB
- Accepted formats: JPEG, PNG
- Content tip: Include your streaming schedule, social media handles, and a brief channel description — viewers will see this when you are not live
Twitch Panels
Panels are the information blocks below the video player on your channel page. They typically contain information about you, your schedule, donation links, and social media.
- Width: 320 px exactly. Panels are always 320 px wide on the channel page
- Height: Up to 300 px recommended. Twitch displays panels at 320 px wide and scales the height proportionally — keep panels under 300 px tall for clean layout
- Maximum file size: 2.9 MB
- Accepted formats: JPEG, PNG. Use PNG for panels with text — JPEG compression creates visible artifacts on sharp edges and text
Stream Overlays
Overlays are graphics that appear on top of your video feed during live streams. They are typically created in tools like OBS, Streamlabs, or Canva and then applied as browser sources or image layers.
- Recommended size: 1920×1080 px (full canvas at 1080p stream resolution)
- Stream alert dimensions: varies by alert type — follow alerts are typically 800×600 px or smaller
- Format: PNG with transparency (alpha channel) — so overlay elements are visible over the video without a solid background
- Tips: Keep text in overlays in a legible size (18px+). Webcam frames are typically 400×300 px or 600×450 px. Bottom bar "scene" overlays are usually 1920×200–300 px
Twitch Subscriber Badges and Emotes
- Emotes: Upload at three sizes — 28×28, 56×56, and 112×112 px. PNG with transparency required
- Subscriber badges: 18×18, 36×36, and 72×72 px. PNG required. Simple, high-contrast designs that are readable at 18×18 px
- Bit badges: Same sizes as subscriber badges — 18×18, 36×36, 72×72 px
Twitch Clip Thumbnail
- Size: Twitch automatically generates clip thumbnails from the video frame. Custom thumbnails are not currently supported for regular clips
- Category artwork: Game box art used in the game directory is supplied by Twitch/IGDB, not streamers
Step-by-Step: Prepare Twitch Graphics
- Profile photo: use the Image Cropper to square-crop, then resize to 256×256 px minimum
- Channel banner: create or resize to 1920×480 px. Keep key content in the center 1400 px
- Offline screen: resize to 1920×1080 px. Use PNG for text-heavy designs; JPEG at 90% for photo backgrounds
- Panels: design at 320 px wide. Export as PNG for any text or logos. Use the Image Compressor to keep under 2.9 MB
- Overlays: create at 1920×1080 px with transparent PNG. The alpha channel is essential for clean overlay compositing
