Reading image dimensions

What you'll see

The checker reports the exact pixel width and height, the total megapixels, the simplified aspect ratio (like 16:9), the file size, and the file type. That's everything you need to know whether an image meets a platform's requirements.

Pixels vs. file size

Dimensions (pixels) decide how large an image appears; file size (KB/MB) decides how fast it loads and whether it fits an upload limit. A small-pixel image can still be a large file if it's uncompressed — use the compressor to shrink the file without changing dimensions.

Frequently asked questions

Does it upload my image?

No. The image is read locally in your browser to measure it.

What's the aspect ratio shown?

The width:height ratio reduced to its simplest whole-number form, e.g. 1920×1080 shows 16:9.

Which formats work?

Any image your browser can open — PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF, and more.

How do I change the size?

Use the Resizer to change dimensions or the Compressor to reduce file size.
