The same 2560×1440 px image displays differently on desktops, tablets, phones, and TVs — with large portions cropped away on smaller screens. YouTube Banner Dimensions

YouTube uses a single 2560×1440 px image but shows a different cropped region on each device type:

Understanding the Safe Zone

The safe zone is the 1546×423 px centered rectangle that is guaranteed to be visible on every device. Think of the 2560×1440 canvas in three layers:

Outer region (full 2560×1440 px): visible only on TV — use this for background imagery and brand colors
Middle region (1855×423 px): visible on tablets and TV
Safe zone (1546×423 px): visible on all devices including phones — this is where your channel name, logo, and key messaging belong

The safe zone height of 423 px creates the "banner strip" appearance on desktop and mobile. The total canvas is 1440 px tall but only the middle 423 px strip is shown on non-TV devices.
